Saturday Morning Date: Visit with Friends!

Yesterday morning, Tim and I ventured out to visit some of our dear friends who live around the Indy area.  It had been awhile since we last had the opportunity to see them and their four kiddos, so we were pretty excited for this day trip!  It also made for a great date, as we had time to talk on the drive down, and then had a blast hanging out with one awesome family!  {If you’re looking for more things to do with your honey, you should add some variety by finding a few friends to visit!  So.much.fun}

The weather wasn’t the greatest, as it rained on the way there, but you know, I kind of liked driving in the rain.  It made for a rather peaceful drive, minus the contstruction in Lebanon, of course, which we’re convinced is a lasting situation for that area.

During our visit, we were so glad to get to know our friends’ children a little better!  Tim and I thoroughly enjoyed asking them questions, playing games, doing crafts and reading with them.  I noticed that one certain boy appears to be a budding artist, and it made me smile to see him use his artistic ability to make a card for a friend.  Ugh, SO SWEET.

Our friends also treated us to authentic Indian food yesterday!!!  I cannot tell you how great of an experience it was to do this.  We went to an Indian restaurant, talked with our waiter who is from India, ate Indian food, admired the beautiful Indian decorations, listened to Indian music…and my heart just about burst with happiness.  Being in a setting greatly influenced by Indian culture, sharing the experience with our friends – it brought another dose of reality to our adoption journey.  As we supped and talked, I thought of our children, and my heart ached for the day that they will join us at the dinner table.  {Thank you, my friends, for this treat.  Thank you.}

As all trips must go, the time came for us to leave.  We said our goodbyes {and were sad to go}, but also thankful for the time we did have with our sweet friends and their kids.  As we drove home into the beautiful sunset, I dreamed of the day that we will visit our friends with our children.  What a wonderful day that will be!
